Power 1st Grade Side Surge into Grand Final

17th September, 2012

The Southern Power 1st Grade side continued the good results on Sunday as they easily accounted for UTS to book themselves a Grand Final rematch with Manly.

With some key players returning to the side, the Power were confident going into the match however they knew that they must be on their game against an always competitive UTS. It was a hotly contested match in the first quarter and despite a number of forward raids by UTS the Power backline were easily rebounding the ball forward allowing the Power midfielders to find space which in turn led to a couple of goals and the lead at the first break. The Power then continued on where they left off in the next quarter to convert a number of chances and take a decent margin into the main break while managing to hold UTS to just the two scoring shots. The 2nd half was much of the same with strong performances all around the park contributing to an impressive display in which the boys extended their lead at every change to record a strong 13.12-90 to 5.3-33 victory.

The Power now look to Saturday with a chance to turn the tables on Manly in what is sure to be a cracking game.

The opening bounce for the 1st Grade game is 1:25pm this Saturday (22nd September) at Blacktown International Sports Park (Eastern Rd, Rooty Hill)

We hope to see a huge roll up of fans in their Power colours to support the 1’s and 18’s in their quest to take both trophies back to the Shire.

Details of post game functions and supporters bus to follow shortly.
