Girl Power – 11 nominations for Sydney AFL (womens) team of the year!

27th August, 2013

Congratulations to our womens team after having 11 of their players announced as nominees in the Sydney AFL (womens) team of the year!

On the back of what has been their most successful season to date since joining the Southern Power AFC club in 2010, Crowie says he’s thrilled to see the players get the well-earned recognition of nomination for the Sydney AFL team of the year. ‘I’m so impressed with the level of dedication and determination the women have shown. The whole club is behind them as they fight for a spot in 2013 grand final. The preliminary final this Sunday against Penrith will be a hard game of footy and I know the girls will give it their all and leave nothing behind’.

Captain Kathryn Hull (Huggies), who was chosen in the 2012 Sydney AFL Team of the Year, says that having 11 players reach the first round of nominations is a reflection of the spirit within the team. ‘The Southern Power women play not just for themselves but for each other. I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved so far and we are keen to do the club proud in our first ever finals series’.
Southern Power Women finished the regular season with 11 wins and only 4 losses. In their 3 season match ups with the Penrith Ramettes so far, Southern Power have taken 2 wins. First bounce of the preliminary final is at 1.10pm this Sunday 1st September, at Gipps Road Oval, Greystanes – let’s get behind them, bring your Dad down for Fathers Day and support the girls as they power through to the Grand Final!
