An open letter from the Southern Power committee

5th March, 2014

Dear Members and Supporters

It is with regret that the committee announce we are withdrawing our Division 5 side from the competition for the 2014 season.

To successfully run 3 teams we require 85-90 players and unfortunately we have not seen these numbers at training or been able to confirm enough intention from the required number of people to play this season.

Given that on average, first grade uses over 40 players a season and reserve grade over 50, the coaches and committee are confident that everyone who wants to play for Southern Power this season will get game time.

The committee will look to appoint an individual or group to take on the task of rebuilding a Division 5 side for the 2015 season.

We understand this decision will disappoint some people but, we believe it is best for the long term interests of the club.

If you have any questions regarding this decision please contact Lozz, Roey or any other member of the committee.

For those players, new and old to the club that have been able to train, it has been great to see the hard work being put in and hear of the extra work players are doing in their own time. With effort comes reward, so let’s keep up the commitment and get excited for the season ahead.

Regards
